Our new Chief Human Resources Officer shares her vision to help Tiger Brands fulfil its
potential as an iconic South African organisation.
Getting back to basics We need to lay the foundation for winning performance. This means putting a lot
of effort into standardising processes across all business units, harmonising and modernising
conditions of employment and benefits, and implementing an enabling technology and digital platform
to support those processes.
Building a diverse talent base Not only in terms of race and gender, but in all other aspects too – like skills, mindsets,
generations, and so on. This is vital to succeed as a business of today and of tomorrow and
in the tough business climate we’re operating in.
Unleashing the power of our leaders We need to enable them to inspire winning performance.
Creating a winning culture that enables a ‘great place to work’ To do this, we must bring our purpose and values more to the centre of who we
are and how we execute our business priorities.”
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY S’ne brings with her a wealth of experience in the fields of strategy and HR. Prior to the last
10 years at Sasol – where the last office she held was that of Senior Vice President: Group Human
Capital – she was at Shell for 10 years, based both in South Africa and in the Netherlands, where
she worked in Shell’s global HR strategy team.
GROWING UP “I was born and raised on the South Coast of Durban – in a place called KwaMakhutha, near Amanzimtoti.
I grew up close to the beach – I still love the sea and the beach. The moment my feet hit the beach
sand, I calm down. The moment I see the blue ocean, everything becomes possible. My kids are the same,
although they were born in Gauteng.”
BEST ADVICE EVER RECEIVED “Always be passionate about what you do; work hard; do your best; be authentic; respect everyone,
no matter what their position or situation is in society. This came from my mom – she not only gave
me that advice consistently, but also lived and role-modelled it. She also taught me to always keep
my faith as my foundation.”
SOME THINGS ON HER BUCKET LIST “I want to travel to Croatia and Greece. I’d also love to start and fund a bursary programme
specifically for black girls. Lastly, in my old age, my dream is to move to Franschhoek and open a
MOST-LOVED TIGER PRODUCT “It’s a toss-up between Purity Elizabeth Anne products and Jungle Oats. I guess at the end of
the day, Jungle Oats wins – I can serve it to my family or I can make it for myself with honey and
crushed nuts – amazing!”
FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A SUNDAY MORNING “Let’s make it a Saturday morning – for me, Sunday mornings are a rush, getting everyone up and ready for
church. On Saturdays, we have a family tradition – a full breakfast made by me. It’s a great way for us to
reconnect as a family. On weekdays, I usually come home late and our helper cooks. So, Saturday mornings are
my chance to nurture my own family.”
